Bringing Europe Home

Playing Favorites/Being Versatile

I’ve been sitting on this long enough.  Some may recall, from my Good News/Bad News Day,  that I was awarded the Liebster Blogger Award by the Cosy Creative (and that, coincidentally, on the same day at the same time, I was passing the “Kreative Blogger Award” on to her).  Well, the time has come to officially thank Cosy and spread the love.  So, thank you kindly, Cosy Creative; your blog is both cozy and creative—and charming, as well—and I invite everyone to visit at

As I understand it, this award is for blogs that have less than 200 followers.  The rules are straightforward:

  • Thank your Liebster Blog presenter on your blog.
  • Link back to your awarder’s site.
  • Copy and paste the award onto your blog
  • Nominate 3-5 bloggers for the award.
  • Inform them by leaving a comment on their blog.

As Liebster is the German word for “favorite,” this award goes to personal favorite blogs.  I admit, that’s what been holding me up, because choosing faves has been difficult.  I must say that my #1 favorite blog belongs to Lorna of Lorna’s Tearoom Delights, but she was already named someone’s Liebster months ago (and she has oodles of other awards as well) but as it happened…

I was just presented with the Versatile Blogger Award by Assia, of  , and I was presented with it again by Becky of .  So thank you, kindly, Assia and Becky—I am honored to accept this, especially from you two, as you each have blogs that I admire.  (And Lorna, you’re getting another award!)

The rules for the Versatile Blogger are about the same as for the Liebster, except that there are no “follower” limits, and I am required to tell you seven more things about myself.  Here are the rules:

  •  Thank the blogger who awarded you and link back to that blog in your post.
  • Share 7 things about yourself.
  • Pass the award on to 7 other bloggers whose blogs you enjoy reading.
  • Write to those bloggers you have nominated to let them know about the award.

Now I get to play favorites, for blogs with less than 200 followers (although I’m not exactly sure of the followers-count for all of these):

  1.   Becky has a fun and refreshing site, which she describes as a home and garden journal.
  2.   This is a beautiful blog, beautifully written, that is filled with sweet creations—most of them involving butter, sugar, and flowers.  The recipes are original and clever!
  3.  A visit to this blog is like a Sunday picnic.

And onward:

  1. —delightful descriptions of tearooms in Scotland.
  2.  T.B.M. ‘s personal challenge of visiting 192 countries,  reading 1001 books, and watching 100 movies.
  3. –wholesome farm-to-table recipes from a wholesome Welsh mother of twins.
  4. –she has a background in costume and theatre design and is currently going to culinary school–this girl is truly versatile!
  5.  An Austrian woman living in Boston blogs about books.
  6. –the mother of three boys, two of them twins, shares daily musings, inspirational thoughts, and photography.
  7. — a peek into daily life in Denmark.

A few things versatile and a few favorites:

  1. While in college, I learned to rappel—and actually did rappel from a mountain… once.
  2. I am a certified scuba diver.
  3. I was the general contractor when we built our house.
  4. I am growing vegetables at my mailbox.
  5. My favorite flower is an iris.
  6. My favorite color is blue. (Can you tell?)
  7. Among my favorite people are my four children and my husband (we’ll be married 24 years this June 🙂 ).

I came into the blogger world against my better judgment and techno-capabilities (as revealed by my clunky links—still so much to learn!), but I have really enjoyed being a part of this world,  thanks to the wonderful insights and info and photography that all of you bloggers out there share.  So to all of you bloggers:  Well done!

  1. Amy

I nominated you for the the Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award. If you have time …
I see it’s a great way to say Thanks to our blogging friends.

  2. TBM

Congrats on your awards. That’s awesome. And thanks for thinking of my blog. You are so kind. 24 years of marriage and four kids. That’s awesome. It is always nice to hear that couples and families can be happy. It is such an inspiration.

    • Thank you so much for your comments, TBM. Your blog is fun and inspiring. And, I can hardly believe it’s been 24 years, myself–I had to put it in writing! 🙂

      • TBM

It is something to be proud of. We are only 8 years into our relationship. I’m looking forward to writing that we’ve reached 24 years.

  3. Congratulations! 🙂 And a big thank you for the nomination!

  4. Wooo Hooo congrats to you all:]]]

  5. Robin,
You are so uplifting, and I love your blog. Thank you so much for my Leibster blog award nomination! It’s a true honor, and I am so grateful.

    • You’re welcome, Sugar! Thank you for the kind words, and congrats on a beautiful site.

  6. There’s just no escape from awards and challenges Robin! (Congrats by the way) I’ve followed you here to let you know I’ve tagged you in the Seven Super Shots challenge. (no country restrictions this time!)

There’s no hurry at all so take your time and enjoy it. I’ll come back to read this properly later.

    • Thanks for thinking of me, Jo! I’ll do my best to meet that challenge. 🙂

  7. Hi Robin, thank you so much. It’s really a pleasure to read those 7 facts which I didn’t know about you and if/when (I ever go scuba diving) I might be asking for some pointers! Not sure if I’ll ever be aiming to rappel off a mountain tho, 🙂

    • You’re welcome, Girl! (Though I haven’t been diving in a long, long time!)

  8. Congrats!!

  9. Many congratulations on your well deserved awards Robin, and I simply can’t believe you’re some sort of clunky technophobe blogger! Your blog posts are beautiful, very nicely written with lovely photographs, and always interesting. Your Easter eggs one made a big impression on me and I’ve been carrying the pictures of those eggs around in my head ever since. I feel extremely privileged to be named so nicely in this post, thank you very much! I already know several of the excellent blogs you’ve nominated but there also some I haven’t come across so I’m looking forward to taking a peek at them. Again, hearty congratulations and thank you kindly.

    • You are most welcome, Lorna. And, thank you kindly, too!

  10. Congrats. 🙂
