Bringing Europe Home

A Simple Joy

Today I share a simple joy–I planted something, and it grew!

It seems like such a common thing–

I mean, it happens every day–

but really, it’s a mystery

unfolding in its earthly way.

So here it stands, a lovely guard

beside the mailbox in the yard,

An iris!

Meticulously formed,

with colors that are rich and true.

Each day it makes me smile anew.

I planted something, and it grew.
