Bringing Europe Home

Sunday Post: Door

A fellow named Jake over at Jakesprinter has created a challenge that he calls “Sunday Post.”   The challenge is to post your interpretation of his chosen theme before the following Sunday;  then add a link to your post in the comments section of Jake’s blog.  Jake’s theme this week is “Door,” and since I’ve been loitering in Greece lately and happened to have found a door there, I’m joining in this challenge.

I call this, “The Door to Santorini.”

  1. a strawberry patch

I love that blue, I’m thinking I need to paint something in my house that color, I wonder if Sherwin Williams will know what I am talking about if I say I’d like some “Santorini Blue” 🙂

    • Ha! Ha! 🙂 I think that they just might know–and if they don’t they should create that color! I’d bet it would be a top seller. 😉

  2. Fabulous entry!

  3. That’s a great way to start Robin. I just joined too this week, and I’ve got so many favourites already.

    • Thanks, Jo! I’m sure you enjoy these challenges–you’ve got so many fantastic photos! 🙂

  4. Bonita Babe

Beautiful, soooBeautiful- you win my vote for Door!! photos, Tis IS Hard to Beat.

    • Thanks so much for your “vote,” Babe! Glad you like the door. 🙂

  5. Wow, what a view to behold behind a door! You’re really making me want to visit Greece. I like Jake’s photo challenge, that sounds very interesting. The colours in this shot are beautiful, so warm and relaxing to look at. Looking at this photo, I feel almost as if I’ve opened the cover of a great novel and am about to find out all about the world behind the door. It’s really inspirational!

    • Thank you, Lorna! Your comment is inspiring, in itself. 🙂

  6. Oh my what a view to behold! It’s almost like magic to open a door to such a vista! Love this! Sharon

    • Thank you, Sharon! I really was rather magical–that’s a nice way to put it! 😉

  7. TBM

Wonderful…all of these photos of Greece are killing me though. I need to get there.

    • Thanks, TBM. (But, sorry!). I’m sure that Greece is on your 50 year list, though, right? 😉

  8. Lovely – both the door and the view beyond. I do so love those shades of blue used on buildings there, reflecting the sea and sky!

    • Thanks, Cathy. Those Santorinians got that blue just right, didn’t they?

  9. What an amazing shot….I don’t think I’d ever close the door!

    • Thank you, Elisa. Indeed, we kept that door open as much as possible. 🙂

  10. Nothing better than an open door – especially when the view beyond is to die for … Fantastic entry Robin:)

  11. Man, I wish I could step through that door right now. Beautiful!

    • Thank you, M. Weebles! I’d love to go back there and step through that door again, myself. 😉

  12. Ooooooooooooh, I like that!

  13. Excellent work my friend for this week theme thanks for sharing 🙂

    • I’m happy to participate! I hope to join you again. 🙂

  14. What a lovely place to loiter! Thanks for sharing!
