Bringing Europe Home

Is There an Award for Procrastination?

If there’s an award for procrastination, I should get it.  Instead, I have been given some very wonderful awards from some very talented and generous bloggers.  As you may have surmised, it has taken me a while to officially and formally accept these awards, but I do so now, with gratitude.

Each award comes with its own set of rules, which I will explain and promptly break.  Please forgive me.  I will also make some of my own rules.  I will: 1. give the awards to blogs that have not received it (if I can tell) and 2. give the awards to blogs that I have not already awarded (if I can help it).

I have been awarded the Sunshine Award by Jamie of GrandmotherMusings and Valentina of ValentinaDesigns  and Expat Alien. Thank you kindly, dear ladies; your blogs do bring a ray of sunshine into my blogosphere.

But a funny thing happened in the blogosphere–the Sunshine Awards landed at my site with two different sets of rules and questions.  Being the benevolent sort, I’m giving my nominees both options.

The Rules:

  • Acknowledge and thank the giver, link it back, and put the award on your page
  • Answer 10 questions about yourself.  (This is where the two different sets of questions come in and I’m not going to list all twenty, but [fine nominees of mine] you can choose the questions you find here or here.  [Sorry, I’m not answering any of them–I’ve got to finish this post.])
  • Pass it on to 10 or (interestingly enough) a random number of bloggers, and notify them

The Blogs:

Ventura Upon Thames

Romancing the Bee

Mountain Mae

Sharing My Italy

Filing Away Cupcakes

GenieSpeaks, Beyond the Green Door, Spiritual World Traveler, and Grandmother Musings have given me the One Lovely Blog Award.  Your blogs are certainly lovely, ladies, and I thank you sincerely for inviting me into your ranks.

The Rules:

  • Acknowledge and thank the giver, link it back, and put the award on your page
  • List 7 things about yourself
  • Pass it on to 10 or 15 bloggers you like (again, the number varies–you pick) and notify them

The Blogs:

A Strawberry Patch

The Urge to Wander

Beyond the Brush

The World is a Book

Spunky Meg of MegTravels has nominated me for the Very Inspiring Blogger Award, and I send my sincere thanks.  Your blog is inspiring me to head back to Italia, Meg.  Andiamo!

The rules:

  • Acknowledge and thank the giver, link it back, and put the award on your page.
  • List 7 things about yourself
  • Pass it on to 7 bloggers who inspire you

The blogs:

Words and Herbs

Beyond the Green Door

The Single Good Girl

A Nature Mom

Jamie at Grandmother Musings has also nominated me for the Illuminating Blogger Award.  I thank you for all of your kind recognition, Jamie, and I’m so cheered to be able to have a flickering candle image on my site, now.  There is an Italian proverb posted on Jamie’s page:  “If nothing is going well, call your grandmother.”  I love that.

The rules:

  • Leave a comment on the original award site
  • Tell one random fact about yourself
  • Pass it on to 5 other bloggers

The blogs:

A Leaf in Springtime

Robin Coyle The Writing Life of Robin

Rough Seas in the Med

Chris Everheart

Holistic Me

Okay, one random fact:  I can’t parallel park.  Really,  I can’t.

Not long ago, Restless Jo of RestlessJo invited all of her female followers (and I’m among them) to join her in accepting the Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award.  Since then, delightful Lorna of LornasTearoomdelights and bright Amy of The World is a Book have graced me with this award, as well.  I’m well chuffed to accept this award and become a part of this sisterhood, ladies.  Thank you so much.

The Rules:

  • Thank the giver, link to the page, and add the award to your site
  • Tell 7 things about yourself
  • Give the award to 5 bloggers

The Blogs:

Nine Cent Girl

Madame Weebles

An Unrefined Vegan

Expat Alien

Lovely Arnel of All Things Boys has given me the Best Follower Award.  Thank you so much for this kind recognition, Arnel—I’ve taken a while to accept it because I’ve been busy following blogs.  😉

The Rules:

  • Thank the giver, link to the page, and add the award to your site
  • Answer the question, “Who was your first follower?”
  • Pass it on to three of your best followers

My first follower was Dubrovnik Lady, Carol, at Essence of Dubrovnik, and it was quite a thrill for me that my first follower was from Croatia.  You’ve earned a place on my blogroll and in my heart, Carol–thank you!

The Blogs (the top three commenters according to my stats page, and it doesn’t lie):

Lorna of TearoomDelights

TBM of 50 Year Project

Jamie of GrandmotherMusings

Thank you, dear followers.  Your comments have surpassed those of my own mother, and that’s an accomplishment.

I didn’t think you would care for me to list 31 assorted facts about myself, but if you’ve got a hankering to read random facts about me, feel free to click here or here.

Thanks again to all who have awarded me and all who read me and all who blog.

Thank you.

  1. I would like to accept the Procrastination Award, which I have just seen lol – you only posted it on the 19 July – must do better – must do better – must do better . I suppose that is why I take pictures versus writing – humble apologies, Scott

  2. Sharing your procrastination award, I finally got to the nominations and you are one of them!

    • Thank you so much for sharing your award with me, MariaGiovanna. You have a very sharing spirit!

  3. I’m awed to read of all your awards -congratulations! Had no idea the bloggers world was so full of them, and am relieved to know that it isn’t de rigueur ro leap into action straight away. I looked at the list of things people had to do when someone’s won a blog, and thought to myself, thank godness I’ll never have to do anything like that ( technologiocally incompetent). Within a couple of days, two people very kindly nominated me for two awards, and I’ve spent several sleepless nights wondering how to jump through all the hoops. My daughter says I can do it if I concentrate, and when I wailed that I was just a hopeless old bat, she replied you’re an old bat who blogs… so your post has given me comfort and inspiration, and permission to procrastinate until i manage to tie down a local teenager to show me how to negotiate the steps for awards requirements!

    • I’m right there with you in the technologically incompetent camp, honey. It took me months to figure out WordPress, and it took me hours to figure out how to put an award image on my site. I still hit snags, but I’m getting used to it. But you’re doing GREAT!
So, don’t sweat the awards. They’re meant to encourage, not to induce insomnia. And, you can count on me whenever you want permission to procrastinate.

      • Dear friend,
I’ve just found your lovely encouraging message. I’ve just discovered this things called Notifications, and there was your message dated August the first. I hope you didn’t think I was ungrateful not acknowledging it, because it was really good to read it and hear how you managed with Word Press –
Your message warmed the cockles of my heart – which is already warm with a nice glass of pinot gris and some imported French camembert which was my substitute for supper tonight!
I hope you get this message, though I realise that you are probably far away from the blogging world at this moment ( and missed ). Warm wishes, Valerie

        • So much to learn, right, Valerie? It was a very long, slow learning curve for me, and there is still a massive amount that I don’t know. But, I do appreciate you stopping by with your very kind words as well, and I am much impressed with your blog and your fine writing. Keep it up!
By the way, I’ll take your substitute for supper any night of the week.

          • Thanks Robin, you are so encouraging. Hope you come back on the air one of these days!
Yes, why would you bother with anything else for supper!!!

  4. Oh my word! Speechless, Robin. Many thanks for the trackback and welcome to our busy old sisterhood. My feet have barely just touched down in England so will be catching up some time soon….

    • Well, rest those weary feet, Jo, and I’ll look forward to catching up later. 🙂

  5. Impressive! Thanks for the nomination! Although….. I feel humbled!! 🙂

    • Not at all– I feel humbled by all of your experiences, Expat. I’m really looking forward to your book! 🙂

  6. Robin, I can see why you don’t have time to give Downton Abbey a try! 🙂

Massive congratulations on all your much deserved awards! And thank you so much for the nomination. Your blog is so lovely and you are so inspiring it really is an honour!

    • Ha ha! Now you know! But thank you, sweetie, and you’re welcome. It was a pleasure to pass the Sunshine on to you, as I enjoy your blog and our blogship so much. 🙂

      • I very much enjoy our blogship too! Your kind encouragement has really helped me to try and stay positive and just enjoy living in the UK; despite its miserable weather!

I can not thank you enough for that.

        • How sweet of you to say that, Kerry. It means a lot to me to know that I’ve been an encouragement to you. I can’t thank you enough for your kind words.

  7. Congratulations Robin! And thank you for the nomination 🙂

    • Thank you, Madhu! It is my pleasure to nominate you (and I see that you had your own backlog of awards!) They are all well deserved.–you have a wonderful site.

      • I recieved your notification and decided to add it right away 🙂

  8. Thank you, Robin, for the nomination 🙂

    • You’re welcome, Lynne. You are a talented woman with a beautiful site.

  9. Nice to see that you’re blog improving popular too. I think you’ve stumbled onto something brilliant with your quotes, I see a few blogs out there with images attached to your words of wisdom! Congrats on all your hard work and recognition too 🙂

    • Thanks so much, Girl! I love visiting your site–my mouth waters every time. 😉

  10. Robin congratulations for all your very deserved awards and thank you so much for the illuminating award that you passed along to me. I am flattered to be on your list and in such great company! I’ll try and acknowledge it quickly, or we will both share the procrastinations award! 🙂

    • Thank you MariaGiovanna, and you’re welcome. (Actually, I was going to give you the illuminating award, but then I saw you already had it, so I gave you the sunshine one–another image for your site! 😉 ) I’d like to add you to my blogroll, too…if I ever get around to it…!

      • I do love to show off all those cute award images indeed! I would be love to be on your blogroll and I shall you on mine too! Thank you:-)

        • Prego!

          • You are on my blogroll now!

            • Oh, thank you, MariaGiovanna! I need to get to work on my blogroll now!

              • I need to share my award!

                • Don’t worry–as evidenced by this post, it took me quite a while to get to it, myself! I think we’re all slowng down over the summer, anyway.
By the way–I’ve got a batch of my home grown tomatoes ready to be made into sauce. I’m going to do a quick parboil, like the method you used in your last post, then saute them with garlic and basil. What else do you have up your sleeve for fresh tomatoes? (or old zucchinni…)?

                  • Fresh tomatoes sauce is the best. You could use the sauce for a Parmigiana di Zucchini! If the tomatoes are large, you could stuffed them with insalata di riso.

                    • I’d love to see you do a post with those recipes! Per piacere. 😉

                    • Haha…I will soon!

  11. TBM

Wow you’ve scored with awards!!!! And all are well deserved. Congrats and thanks for mentioning my blog. And now that I’ve returned from my trip and once I am no longer officially buried, I’ll do my best to comment more to deserve this one 🙂 I feel so behind these days so I can totally relate to the procrastination thing. I know it is early, but have a great weekend!

    • Thanks, TBM. Yes, the blogging community has been very, very good to me (and you’re among them!). Enjoy the rest of your week and your weekend, too.

  12. Wow, Robin, what a mammoth effort – well done, and many congratulations on all your very well deserved awards! I like the idea of the procrastination award, it does take a long time to do these award posts, adding in all the links and whatnot. You were very good, checking out if people already had the awards or not, I must admit I don’t always do that because I’m am dreadfully lazy. Thank you very much for my award, I am very chuffed to be one of your best followers! 🙂 As for your random fact, I’m sorry to say that I, too, cannot parallel park. I had to do it for my driving test, and I had the hang of it then, but somehow I seem to have completely lost the knack. I feel very ashamed about this and keep meaning to practice in side streets when no-one’s looking, but again I’m too lazy.

    • Thank you, Lorna dear, and you’re most welcome. (And even though I checked those other blogs, I wasn’t always right!) I don’t know if there’s room on your page among all your other awards for that chocolatey splash followers award, but it is always nice to pass something along to you via cyberspace. So glad to know I’m not alone in my parking ineptitude. I couldn’t even do it for my driver’s test–but I cried, and I think what I actually got was a sympathy license. It’s okay, though–a parking space always appears if I drive around long enough or far enough away from where I want to be. 😉

  13. Thank you so much for the illuminating award Robin, I’ll try and acknowledge it quickly, or like you it will sit on the shelf and get dusty for a month or two! The best thing about awards is that you get to list other blogs and hopefully share and meet new blog friends. So I’m looking forward to – slowly – working my way down your list of nominees. Thanks again.

    • You’re welcome, Rough Seas, and–exactly. It is a great way to find out about other blogs and it was a pleasure to put you on that nominee list.

  14. Fabulous! Well done Robin… you deserve each and every one of these awards. And thank you so much for my nomination! I’ll have to do a post on it tomorrow… or the day after… well, soon! Tomorrow never comes, right! 😉

    • Not in my world! Thank you for your kind words, Cathy. It was an honor to pass an award to you.

  15. Amy

Congrats! So well deserved these awards, Robin! I’m flattered and honored to be on your list. Thank you very much!

    • Thank you, Amy. I felt the same way when I got your award! 😉

  16. Your awards are so very deserved! Congratulations on all of your accolades, Robin. Thank you for nominating me for the “Best Follower Award”. I truely enjoy your blog, and it is an extreme pleasure to read your posts. I count you as a blogger friend and hope we are able to share many posts. Enjoy! Love ya, Jamie 🙂

    • That’s so kind of you, Jamie. Thank you. And me, too!

  17. Congratulations on your many much deserved awards! Thank you for generously nominating me for one of them, and these days at least I can fulfill one requirement – the most important one of gratitude in my opinion. THANK YOU!!!

  18. You have been hugely and justly blessed with so many awards! Congratulations! And I am tickled to be part of the Sisterhood, thank you very much!! And now I’m going to spend a few hours reading through all these wonderful blogs you’ve listed. 🙂

    • You’re right about the hugely, and you’re very kind about the justly. (Me? I’m not so sure–but there it is.) In the meantime, I’m happy to be a Weebles Tickler.

  19. So many awards and so many wonderful bloggers to pass them on to 😀
    Congrats my friend!

    Choc Chip Uru

    • Yes, indeed! And I know you have quite a stash yourself, my friend! Congrats to you, too. 🙂

  20. Congratulations on the awards, Robin! And thank you for passing along the Very Inspiring Blogger Award along to me. I’ll have a similar “embarrassing” post coming out one of these days… if I ever get around to it!

    • You’re welcome. And I’ll look forward to that post, Linda!

  21. Congratulations on your award loot ;-)! And thanks for including me in the Sisterhood – I’m touched and honored.

    • Thanks, and you’re welcome. I’m so glad you’re touched and honored.

  22. Well thank you so much! I am glad to see I am not the only one with a backlog of awards to acknowledge. It is at the point where I am embarrassed to do a post about them. Let’s start a procrastination award of our own.

You did a great job here, and all your awards are well deserved. And besides, we Robins need to stick together, right?

    • Yes, my post was embarrassing. But hey. Do an embarrassing one of your own, for the sake of sticking with Robin, okay? 😉

      • Oh okay . . . fine. I really must do it! It isn’t that I don’t appreciate the awards, but they take so much time!

    • And yes! Let’s start a procrastination award of our own…but a little later, okay?
